Fibromyalgia is a chronic debilitating disorder characterized by widespread musculoskeletal pain, fatigue, sleep disorders, migraines, anxiety, depression, and cognitive dysfunction. Researchers believe that the brain's pain receptors of fibromyalgia sufferers are more sensitive to pain signals. Causative risk factors for fibromyalgia include sex (predominately female), genetics, osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, inactivity, high body mass, and emotional stress.
