Dr. Scott Welsh has a particular interest in the treatment of knee and shoulder injuries. He is especially interested in procedures to transplant or regenerate new cartilage in the knee using minimally invasive techniques and stem cells. He also specializes in ACL reconstructions of the knee, meniscus surgery, and minimally invasive procedures on the shoulder and ankle. He also performs fracture repair and total joint replacements of the knee. He works closely with physical therapists, athletic trainers, personal trainers, chiropractors, and nutritionists to maximize patient education and help athletes get back to their active lifestyle as quickly as possible.

Specializing in sports medicine and general orthopedics, Dr. Scott Welsh received his undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois, graduating Phi Beta Kappa and Cum Laude. He received his medical degree at Loyola University Chicago, where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society, top 5% of his class. He completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at Michigan State University and his fellowship training in sports medicine at the Florida Orthopedic Institute in Tampa, Florida.

Dr. Welsh has served as a team physician for the University of South Florida, University of Tampa, Saint Leo University, Western Michigan University, and several high schools in the Tampa area. Dr. Welsh has conducted research projects on ACL injuries and shoulder dislocations. He has lectured at national sports medicine conferences and is board certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons.

Dr. Welsh is a specialist in cartilage and ligament injuries of the knee. He is especially interested in cartilage restoration procedures to either transplant cartilage or stimulate new cartilage growth in the knee. He is also researching the use of stem cells to treat arthritic conditions and for cartilage regeneration
